Joint LPC-Theory Seminar 2:30-3:30 p.m. Meenakshi Narain (Brown University): Title: Mass Determination using events with charged leptons and missing transverse momentum from the Tevatron to the LHC Abstract: Events with multiple leptons and unobserved particles that give rise to missing transverse momentum can originate from SM particles and from particles predicted by physics scenarios beyond the SM. Examples are the decays of the top quark and decays of particles predicted by supersymmetric models. I will give an overview of the techniques used to reconstruct the masses of these particles. I will draw on examples from the current state of the art for reconstructing the top quark mass at the Tevatron and I will give an overview of the techniques for determining masses of SUSY particles which have been studied by the LHC experiments.
